The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Parcel Viewer at maps.matsugov.us/webmaps/ is a great tool for gaining the best insights into any property you're interested in.
When you click the above link, you will see the Borough seal, and within a few seconds you are taken to the MSB Parcel Viewer Home Panel. If you need accessibility options, click the icon in the top right corner.
RECOMMENDED: If you want immediate guidance on using the Parcel Viewer, click in the lefthand navigation pane on “video tutorials” under Show Me to go straight to YouTube, where you will see two helpful videos listed on the Borough’s channel. These will take up less than 20 minutes of your time and are well worth the insights.
You can use the Home Panel navigation on the left to search by address or owner name, watch video tutorials, or use the Explore function in two ways – which both give you access to similar tools.
TIP: Go back to Home at any time by clicking the Home button on the bottom lefthand corner of the window.
Under Search, click on “by address” to access the Address input field in the lefthand navigation pane. The Parcel Viewer will display the closest address it has found, which you then choose from the dropdown. The result of the address you enter, when the Parcel Viewer finds it, will appear to the right in the main pane, and the address record will appear in the left pane. You can show an expanded view and pan around, among other options. Same principle applies for searching by owner name.
Click on the parcel in the Parcel Viewer pane, and you will see options pop up. You can create a PDF of the Parcel Report, view in the myProperty tool, view additional details, or run a report. If you choose “Create PDF Parcel Report,” you’ll be notified in the lefthand navigation bar that the Borough Land Information Parcel Report report is ready. Click “click here” to view it and download it from your browser.
If you click “View in myProperty,” you’ll be taken to the Borough Real Property detail for the property. You can navigate within that database and get other kinds of information as well. If you click on “View additional details,” the Parcel Viewer pane will zoom in, and the content in the lefthand navigation pane will change to a more detailed look at the property, and you can scroll down through that lefthand pane content:
You can turn features of the Parcel Viewer pane on and off. Click the “I want to…” blue button and then choose “Change visible map layers.” All the way at the bottom of the lefthand navigation pane, you will see “2011 imagery” toggled off. Toggle it on by clicking the little box next to it, and you will see a satellite mage of the property appear in the Parcel Viewer pane. This is the best way to get a visual on a property you’re interested in.
If you go back to the home page and click “toolbar” under Explore in the lefthand navigation pane, you see the top left toolbar pop up, displaying Home, Search, and Mapping tabs.
